Social Exchange is the way of the world, the way carnally minded peeps operate.
God's economy is one of grace, not exchange. The world's system sounds like fairness, "we get in proportion to what we give". God accomplished fairness by paying our debt to Him with His son's penalty. The world's plan is "awful" because it is at enmity with God's plan.
